When I think back to how we met, it feels like fate had a sense of humor that day. There I was, at work, just going about my routine, when you walked in, determined and focused, looking for an office. I remember doing everything I could to help you—checking directories, pulling up maps—but soon enough, we realized something was off. You weren’t just lost; you were in Brookline, and the office you were looking for? It was in Brighton.

But even in that moment of confusion, there was something about her that stood out. I didn’t want our conversation to end there, so I gave her my number—“just in case you find it,” I said. It was a simple gesture, but in hindsight, it was one of the best decisions of my life.

It was a crisp and beautiful Saturday, a day I had meticulously planned to show Sheevon just how much she meant to me. I enlisted the help of her daughter Keisha and her friend Rachel to create a memory that would last a lifetime. Together, we kept Sheevon occupied in her room, laughing and chatting, while the rest of the house underwent a magical transformation.

In the living room, Keisha and Rachel worked tirelessly to bring my vision to life. They carefully arranged rose petals in intricate patterns across the floor, leading to the center of the room. Candles of varying heights flickered gently, casting a warm and romantic glow. The centerpiece of the room was a stunning wall of roses, lush and fragrant, adorned with a neon sign that glowed softly with the words, "It was always you." Those words said everything I had ever felt about Sheevon—that she had always been the one.

When everything was ready, Keisha and Rachel led her into the living room, her eyes covered to preserve the surprise. As she stepped inside, they removed her blindfold, and for a moment, she stood there, stunned, taking in the beauty and love poured into the room. The light from the candles danced in her eyes as she turned to look at me, her expression a mix of joy and disbelief.

I took her hand, guided her to the center of the room, and dropped to one knee. My heart raced as I looked up at her, the most important words of my life on the tip of my tongue.

"Sheevon," I began, my voice steady but full of emotion. "From the moment I met you, you’ve brought love, joy, and purpose into my life. It’s always been you. Through every high and every low, you’ve been my constant, my anchor. I can’t imagine a future without you by my side. Will you marry me?"

Her tears fell freely as she nodded, whispering a soft but emphatic, "Yes." The room filled with cheers from Keisha and Rachel as I slipped the ring onto her finger, sealing the promise of a lifetime together.

In that moment, amidst the roses, candles, and the glowing words on the wall, our lives changed forever. It was the beginning of the next chapter in our story, one rooted in love, trust, and the unwavering belief that it was, indeed, always her.
